Coelophysis was one of the earliest dinosaurs. Dinosaurs first appeared during the Late Triassic, about 230 million years ago to be exact. But during the Late Triassic, dinosaurs weren't very big. The only really big dinosaurs at the time were prosauropods. However, it is more than likely that Coelophysis hunted in packs. Working together, they could bring down animals larger than themselves, such as the 1-ton Placerias and the 16-foot Desmatosuchus.
