Abelisaurus was a dinosaur closely related to Majungatholus. Like Majungatholus, Abelisaurus belonged to a group of dinosaurs part of the Ceratosaurus family called the Abelisaurids. The Abelisaurids were easy to identify because they had short snouts, arms that were so small they looked more like wrists, and ornamentations on their skulls. They were also dinosaurs that mostly lived in the Southern Hemisphere, Tarascosaurus was the only northern species. Abelisaurus and related species also had a rough texture on their skulls made of keratin, which is the same stuff your fingernails are made of. With all these different species of Abelisaurids, Ceratosaurus had one big family.
